Dartington Hall wedding

Victoria and Lawrence's Dartington Hall wedding had an autumn theme using the best of the season to decorate this stunning medieval venue.

Dartington Hall is the largest medieval house in the West of England and possibly one of the most romantic wedding venues in the South West. It is a perfect combination of being really grand and striking but also rustic and relaxed, allowing the couple to put their personal touches to it. Dartington wedding venue is also a social enterprise and a lot of money made from weddings is put back into community!

The couple found me on Dartington Hall recommended supplier list and they love my previous wedding that I captured here.

Vicky and Larry decided on November wedding as they loved the idea of cosy log fires and autumnal colours. The theme of wedding was all things rustic and autumnal - lots of dried leaves, pine cones, ivy, burnt oranges, candles, etc

Also as the couple run a brewery it would have been silly not to provide their own Red Ink Brewing beer at the wedding. It was a great hit and even Dartington Hall on site pub was serving their tasty beer to their customers long after their wedding.

The bride and groom wanted to personalize the ceremony as much as possible and make it really fun. They had four great readings, some of which were tailored especially for them!

The guitarist Tommy C was amazing adds on to the ceremony. He played during the signing of the register and got everyone signing, and even dancing, during the ceremony. After wedding breakfast, cutting the five-tier Devonshire chesse cake and touching speeches we had some time for some evening portraits, which is a must at such a striking venue! The couple started the evening party with their first dance played by Plastic Pantomime. The wedding band rocked and kept all the guests constantly on the dancefloor. Thumbs up!

"Martin photographed our wedding at Dartington Hall in November. He was fantastic! Relaxed yet professional on the day, listened to all of our weird and wonderful ideas beforehand and dealt with the November weather expertly! We were really happy with the end result and ended up ordering an album double the size of the one we had previously planned as we loved the pictures so much! Thanks again Martin."

Walton castle wedding

Walton Castle wedding - Rachel & Chris

Walton castle weddingSunglasses were a necessity for Rachel and Chris's sunny Walton Castle wedding. The day was full of fun from the Muppets theme to a balloon tying competition. There was even a cheeky nod to all things chivalrous with a custom cloak worn by the bride as surprise for the groom. We couldn't resist adding the swords for an extra pointy accessory. En Garde!

Against the stunning backdrop of the castle, beneath a canopy of fluttering bunting, the two exchanged their vows in front of family and friends. There was live music during the ceremony and drinks reception, courtesy of The Hot Hats and as the night closed in guests feasted on tacos from The Little Taquero and danced the night away to the sounds of the Zu Zu Men.

The brides ensemble was created with a timeless gown from The Bridal Room, hair and makeup by the Tour de Force that is Grace Kingsley, and finished off with accessories from Bridezillas. The day itself was made a reality thanks to the hard work and diligence of Gill from WishTree Weddings and the bright and airy marquee was provided by Marquee Master.

Walton Castle is a Grade II listed all in-inclusive wedding venue in Clevedon near Bristol.

This luxury venue offers a unique blend of historic elegance and modern comfort, with stylish yet homely accommodation, spacious grounds and stunning views across five counties. Surrounded by 4 acres of beautiful parkland this 17th century castle is set upon a hill on the site of an earlier Iron Age fort.

Photo shoot at Walton Castle

walton castle wedding_13

This week I'm bringing you a look at another shoot, and it's one that's a little more personal to me for a reason I'll explain in just  moment.

Walton Castle is absolutely beautiful, with its bright green grass and the historic brick buildings. It was idyllic, a wonderful day, made all the better by the fact that my very own wife, Anna, was the model. The wedding dress, courtesy of The White Collection, popped wonderfully against the backdrop of the castle, and the styling by Elizabeth Weddings complimented itself. The flowers by Tin Can Floral were, as always, lovely.

Walton Castle will be hosting its first wedding fayre on Sunday the 8th of March, and I will be exhibiting with them there. I'm so excited to be able to share in the day, and hope to see many of you there, too!
