Best of Bristol Wedding Photography 2016

To those looking for Best Bristol Wedding Photography in 2017 and beyond, here are the highlights from weddings that I had privilege to capture last year.

There’s never any strategy in mind for me when I’m picking photos for this post – and as usual I’m absolutely not saying these are the best photos I’ve ever taken, they’re just my personal favourites from the past 12 months for one reason or another.

In a year that’s taken me to London, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Devon, Somerset and Bristol obviously – there has been one constant. Love. It might sound like a cliche but it’s no less true if it is. It’s what sustains us all. It’s what we live for and search for.

Every single wedding below had something very special, and that was usually the two people at the centre.

It was lovely to work as Wedding Photographer Somerset and get to know new venues like Pennard House, Rockbeare Manor and Wellington Barn. It was an equally fun to photograph at the venues that have been recommending me over the years and where I work on regular basis: Priston Mill, Brympton House, Bristol Mansion House, Coombe Lodge, Roman Baths just to mention a few. Thanks a million!

Finally, a round up of the year wouldn’t be right without thanking all of the couples who decided to bring me along on their journey this year, I never underestimate that decision and the trust you guys have put in me, and I can’t thank you enough. If you’re already part of my plans for 2017 then I can’t wait! Have a great New Year everyone! I hope you enjoy looking at these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them!

So here it is, a selection of 70 of my favourites wedding pictures from 2016!

SS Great Britain wedding

I’m delighted to say that Sarah & Jon's SS Great Britain wedding has been featured  in Your Bristol & Somerset Wedding magazine.

The couple opted to wed on board the ss Great Britain due to their shared nautical interests - Jon is keen sailor and Sarah has ancestors who worked on the pilot cutter vessels in Pill near Bristol.

Sarah explains: "We love being by the sea so it was an easy choice for us. It also provided me with plenty of ideas for the wedding theme. As I am a graphic designer, I designed all the stationery items myself". "Also, all the profits from the wedding are reinvested into the upkeep of the ship in it as well," adds Jon.
Sarah's dad drove her to the ceremony in his lovingly restored 1953 Sunbeam Alpine Roadster. "Arriving at the ship in dad's car was amazing", she recalls. " There were lots of people waiting outside which helped set the scene".

The couple exchanged vows on the Promenade Deck surrounded by 90 of their friends and family. Sarah made her entrance to Pachebel and the exit music was Handel played by harpist, Claire Dibble.
The couple chose a live swing band Gary Grace for the evening and their first dance was Beyond the Sea by Bobby Darin.

They chose their photographer Martin Dabek because he had experience of shooting on board the ss Great Britain. "We were shown a portfolio of his work taken at a wedding on the ship, which was amazing. He's really creative and we were really keen on having reportage-style photography to capture people enjoying the day," says Jon. Sarah adds:" Martin and his assistant Simon were great on the day and they made sure we got the most out of the venue. They captured the spirit of the day beautifully and I would definitely recommend them"

If you are considering SS Great Britain Wedding please don’t hesitate to contact me to discuss your wedding photography requirements.

What advice would you give brides who are planning their wedding?

1. Do what you both want to do – it’s a great reflection of your personalities and you don’t have to follow suit.
2. Relax. Take it all in and take a moment to look around you.
3. Plan. Fail to plan, plan to fail! He he… oh, and it will help with point 2.
