Bristol Mansion House wedding

mansion house bristol

Bristol Mansion House wedding at it's best, Victoria and Andy held their lovely wedding here in July. The Clifton Cathedral and The Mansion House made the perfect backdrop for their luxurious wedding day.

The couple came recommended by The Mansion House, a vendor I have worked with before. As the couple live in Clifton they decided to have ceremony and reception in Clifton, they also used mostly local suppliers.

I started the day with bride at Bristol Marriott, for some gorgeous bridal portraits. It got very emotional when Victoria's dad saw her in the dress for the first time. His genuinely amazing reaction seeing his little girl as a bride brought tears to all of the ladies eyes. Vicki then spent adorable moments with her girls and it was off to the ceremony.

The day was full of memorable and sweet, magical moments. Travelling by car to The Clifton Cathedral for the service, people on the street were waving and cheering to Vicki and her dad which was very cute. Vicki also looked exquisite as she walked down the aisle in her gorgeous dress by Clifton Brides. Full of sparkling detail, she really shined! The ceremony was one beautifully traditional English ceremony, where the couple sealed their love with a sweet kiss.

On the way to the reception we stopped for some photos at The Clifton Suspension Bridge which is nearby the reception venue - The Mansion House. Guests were greeted with a lovely drinks reception while we took a few lovely bridal portraits with their antique 1930's Style White Beauford courtesy of Spirit Wedding Cars.

During the drink reception guests were entertained with games of lawn jenga - a fun addition to their lush garden affair. Decorated with gorgeous flowers from Clifton Flowers, the reception table names was a mixture of Spanish and French words as Vicki is a French and Spanish teacher.

After the first dance the dance floor was always full thanks to Alan from Soundwave Entertainments. Of course, nothing quite topped the cake cutting thanks to Anna Cake Couture or the amazing food by in house caterer Parsnip Mash.

A glorious day to remember, I would like to congratulate Victoria and Andy on one fabulous wedding to remember. Thank you for asking me to be your Bristol wedding photographer. "Martin photographed us at our wedding at Clifton Cathedral and the Mansion House. He has been fantastic right from the start, when we had our initial discussion about the day, to the very end when producing our album which we have just received and it looks great! On the day itself, Martin and his colleague were both very professional and made everyone feel relaxed. They captured lots of special moments on the day, including many shots that we wouldn't even have thought to ask for." - Victoria & Andy

Grange St Pauls wedding

Stuart and Ewa had a gorgeous Grange St Pauls wedding that was full of fun and merriment. The couple got ready in their reception venue - Grange Hotel St. Paul’s - which was very convenient as I could photograph both of their preparation simultaneously. The bride looked like a dream in the wedding gown and the hair and makeup artist - Rosie at Beauty Call had done a fabulous job.

Ewa and Stuart choose a vibrant church in the city of London for their wedding ceremony - St Vedast Church. The Parish of St Vedast is known from the 12th century, and the church is traditionally claimed to have been established by 1170!

This beautiful, spacious and full of light church is just behind St. Paul's cathedral and within walking distance from the venue reception. They have planned it out very well! The St. Vedast Church was beautifully decorated with flowers. The florist, Willow & Blooms had done a fabulous job with the flower arrangements.

After very emotional wedding ceremony and rain of confetti all the guests moved to Grange St Pauls wedding venue to celebrate their marriage.

The wedding reception was full of fun and cheer. The couple played some polish traditional wedding games during the reception, which also involved their international guests. The wedding speech of Stuart makes Ewa and all the guests very emotional. After the first dance we took some evening shots in front of the very majestic St. Paul's cathedral and on the venue roof terrace.

After dancing and signing on the roof terrace until 11pm, the wedding party moved downstairs to a meeting room that they converted into a nightclub! Their DJ was the owner (and close friend of the bride and groom) of Moonraker Disco. Moonraker did an amazing job turning a plain meeting room into a dance venue complete with sound system, lighting, draping, and dancefloor.

Overall I had a great time capturing the beautiful moments of the wedding of this gorgeous couple.

If you are planning to have Grange St Pauls wedding (or anywhere in London for that matter) please don’t hesitate to contact me to discuss your wedding photography requirements.

Merchants Hall wedding

Sometimes couples travel far and wide to find the perfect wedding venue. Others choose somewhere close to home, to keep them grounded in their roots. That's exactly what Adam and Charlotte did when they were married at the Merchants Hall in Clifton, Bristol. They live just around the corner from the venue, and always knew it was the perfect place for them!

Guests travelled from all over the world to celebrate Adam and Charlotte's special day, and it was so lovely to hear all the different stories from all the different guests as they toasted to their friends. There was a jovial atmosphere, with smiles all around, as we sat down to a lovely dinner by Parsnip Mash. Funky name, fabulous food! Charlotte's stunning dress came from Clifton Brides, the flowers from Lisa Elliott and the vintage Rolls - Royce By Heritage Car Travel.

Pictures on the Clifton Suspension Bridge aren't few and far between, but every pair of newlyweds adds something special. Adam and Charlotte are no different, glowing all over as they posed together as man and wife. I'm so thrilled to have been a part of their day, and wish them all the best in their lives together.

roman baths wedding

The Roman Baths wedding venue

Roman Baths wedding venue_01
This time I would like to share images from The Roman Baths wedding open evening.
The venue was stunningly lit; dramatically framing the mixture of Georgian architecture and Roman ruin that make the Roman Baths one of the most unique venues in the South West. The bath's themselves were particularly inviting; moodily lit with burning torches and steam floating across the water. I love the juxtaposition of the modern and the old (and the even older!).
The Terrace and Reception Hall were laid out to give guests an idea of how the space can be used. Each table was topped with a impressive floral arrangements from the talented people at The Fresh Flower Company. The Reception Hall is particularly enchanting with it's domed Four Seasons celing.
The Roman Baths is one of the most iconic and unique wedding venues in the country and is perfect for ceremonies and receptions. Whether you would like an intimate wedding for two, or a much larger ceremony, a Sunrise or Sunset Wedding will provide a truly romantic start to your married life.
If you are considering The Roman Baths wedding (or anywhere in Bath for that matter) please don’t hesitate to contact me to discuss your wedding photography requirements.

Avon Gorge Hotel wedding

AVON GORGE HOTEL WEDDING-60

It's becoming quite a tradition for me; meeting future couples while photographing a wedding. I first met Emma and Chris at the wedding of their close friends Laura and Shaun, the year before at Bristol Zoo.

The weather on the day was exceptional and we were able to make the most of the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge. I love how it looks at night; the perfect setting for a city centre wedding. But the happy couple weren't the only ones with a fabulous backdrop! Emma and Chris asked me to set up a Photo-booth for guests to use throughout the evening reception and we were able to get some hilarious shots of their nearest and dearest.

The couple married at the Avon Gorge Hotel which is a stones throw from the bridge - and the rest of the day was just as 'home-grown' with fantastic suppliers from across the city. The bride was radiant her dress from College Green Bridal, her hair was styled by Alnaki Hair Design with a headpiece from Bridezilla's in Keynsham (you can see me photographing their products in this fun video). The flowers were created by local florist Lisa Elliot, and the chair covers supplied by Just So Events.

If you are considering a wedding at The Avon Gorge Hotel, please get in touch to discuss your wedding photography requirements.

ss great britain wedding

SS Great Britain wedding

I’m delighted to say that Sarah & Jon's SS Great Britain wedding has been featured  in Your Bristol & Somerset Wedding magazine.

The couple opted to wed on board the ss Great Britain due to their shared nautical interests - Jon is keen sailor and Sarah has ancestors who worked on the pilot cutter vessels in Pill near Bristol.

Sarah explains: "We love being by the sea so it was an easy choice for us. It also provided me with plenty of ideas for the wedding theme. As I am a graphic designer, I designed all the stationery items myself". "Also, all the profits from the wedding are reinvested into the upkeep of the ship in it as well," adds Jon.
Sarah's dad drove her to the ceremony in his lovingly restored 1953 Sunbeam Alpine Roadster. "Arriving at the ship in dad's car was amazing", she recalls. " There were lots of people waiting outside which helped set the scene".

The couple exchanged vows on the Promenade Deck surrounded by 90 of their friends and family. Sarah made her entrance to Pachebel and the exit music was Handel played by harpist, Claire Dibble.
The couple chose a live swing band Gary Grace for the evening and their first dance was Beyond the Sea by Bobby Darin.

They chose their photographer Martin Dabek because he had experience of shooting on board the ss Great Britain. "We were shown a portfolio of his work taken at a wedding on the ship, which was amazing. He's really creative and we were really keen on having reportage-style photography to capture people enjoying the day," says Jon. Sarah adds:" Martin and his assistant Simon were great on the day and they made sure we got the most out of the venue. They captured the spirit of the day beautifully and I would definitely recommend them"

If you are considering SS Great Britain Wedding please don’t hesitate to contact me to discuss your wedding photography requirements.

What advice would you give brides who are planning their wedding?

1. Do what you both want to do – it’s a great reflection of your personalities and you don’t have to follow suit.
2. Relax. Take it all in and take a moment to look around you.
3. Plan. Fail to plan, plan to fail! He he… oh, and it will help with point 2.
