I am always excited when I have an opportunity to provide some beautiful Cripps Barn wedding photography. As a busy Cotswolds wedding photographer, I get to work at all the best Cotswolds wedding venues, and this is certainly the case when I return to be a Cripps Barn wedding photographer. Part of the successful Cripps & Co wedding venues Group, Cripps Barn is one of two beautiful venues that they have in the stunning Cotswolds.
Situated in the idyllic Gloucestershire countryside, Cripps Barn is an 18th-century Cotswold stone barn in the charming village of Bibury (which has been described as the most beautiful village in England) and is just a short drive from Cirencester.
With its flagstone floors, traditional oak beams and roaring open fireplace, it’s a magical setting for a wedding with a rustic and laidback vibe. The perfect balance of a historic building with subtle modern amenities like advanced underfloor heating and state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems. It offers the very best of both worlds.
One of the many things I love about capturing wedding photography at Cripps Barn is the natural beauty of the venue both inside and out. Its simple elegance allows you to dress it however you want with your choice of decorations and flowers, though is beautiful enough to leave pared back and natural. The team at Cripps Barn offer their decorations for hire which hit just the right note in enhancing the barn and gardens’ natural beauty.
Some barn wedding venues can feel cold in winter months but Cripps Barn’s warm Cotswold stone walls, beamed ceilings adorned with fairy lights, candle and tealight decorations and a roaring fire make it the perfect venue all year round.
Outside it has a large south-facing terrace and gardens with magnificent countryside views of the rolling Cotswolds Hills with no other building in sight. At a Cripps Barn wedding, you feel like you’ve stopped in time and stepped away from it all.
Licensed to host civil ceremonies both indoors and outside in their beautiful gardens with gorgeous countryside views. Indoor ceremonies are held in the main stone barn that can seat up to 120 guests, with a further 30 seated in the adjoining Oak Room for larger ceremonies.
The option of an outdoor ceremony is offered when weather permits and those are held in their enchanting woodland glade. The glade is situated next to Cripps Barn under a beautiful oak ceremony canopy. Guests are seated before you and surrounded by an array of mature trees.
For those looking for a more traditional service, there are several churches close by where you can have your ceremony and then enjoy your reception, wedding breakfast and evening party at Cripps Barn afterwards.
Drink receptions take place outside when weather permits, where younger legs can let off some steam and play lawn games. Whilst the adults enjoy tasty canapes and drinks.
Relaxed Cripps Barn wedding photography
Wedding breakfasts are held in the barn that looks amazing all dressed and ready for the celebrations. Fairy lights, flowers and lanterns create a gorgeous atmosphere for your wedding meal and speeches.
When it comes to food, Cripps Barn has a talented team of in-house chefs who work with you to create an amazing menu of delicious food and exciting drinks that will wow your guests. When I capture wedding photography at Cripps Barn, I love their famous BBQ where feast-style food is served in bowls on the tables. Delicious and informal, they set the perfect vibe for a chilled-out summer celebration.
Couples are encouraged to attend one of Cripps Barn’s Feast nights, where you can taste their food and get a close-up tour of the barn.
When I capture Cripps Barn wedding photography, I love whisking my couples outside for a few minutes in the golden hour. The golden hour is the hour before sunset when the sun is at its lowest creating a soft haze perfect for romantic wedding photos. And the Cotswolds is famed for its beautiful sunsets.
When the sun goes down, Cripps Barn comes to life as it is an excellent party venue. It can accommodate a further 100 evening guests so you won’t have to limit your numbers. It also has state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, space for a DJ and their equipment a live band and a (much envied by other Cotswolds wedding venues) late 1 am license. And in this isolated location, there is no one to disturb so you can let your hair down!
Natural Cripps Barn Wedding Photography
Outside after dark, there are two fires on the terrace, oil flares around the lawn, tealights in the trees and a large bonfire at the bottom of the garden. They are creating an enchanting and warm outside space for your guests to take a breather from the dancefloor.
The helpful team at Cripps Barn pride themselves on helping you to plan and organise your day to your vision. They support you through the planning process and are there on the day to ensure everything goes smoothly. Honestly, nothing is ever too much trouble for these guys. They’re even nice to Cotswold wedding photographers!
