Gloucestershire Wedding Venues

Being a Gloucestershire wedding photographer is a dream job.  The County of Gloucestershire offers stunning countryside, fascinating history, charming market towns, rolling farmland and fairy-tale castles.  The Forest of Dean and the Cotswolds are recognised as some of the most beautiful parts of the country and of course have some amazing wedding venues. So, whether you’re looking for a traditional farm wedding, an upmarket Cheltenham hotel, a quirky barn, a fairy-tale castle or an outdoor boho ceremony in the forest.  Gloucestershire really does something for everyone allowing you to create the wedding of your dreams.  Let’s talk about some of these amazing wedding locations across the county of Gloucestershire.

Gloucester is such an architecturally and historically rich town.  There’s the famous 11^th century Gloucester cathedral with gothic and Romanesque architecture.  Nearby the famous docks with restored Victorian warehouses, canal ways, a dry dock and the Mariners Chapel that all make fantastic backdrops for wedding photographs.  There are a host of different wedding venues in Gloucester including Elmore Court, a historically rich house with a magical feel sitting in beautiful grounds.  Its award-winning Gillyflower Suite (built sustainably) is perfect for weddings.

Blackfriars Priory is a stunning 13th Century Medieval Priory and was recently shortlisted for Best Historic Venue in the UK Wedding Awards 2019.

The Forest of Dean is a truly unique landscape made up of forested hillsides, cider orchards, rivers, ancient woodlands, idyllic unspoilt villages, tranquil forest, steam trains and the odd castle!   The perfect settings for weddings.

A fantastic Forest of Dean wedding venue is the award-winning Clearwell Castle with grand reception rooms and a 75-foot-aisle it offers guests exclusive use.  Privately owned Blaisdon Hall is a grand and romantic wedding venue in 86 acres of gardens and parkland with spectacular views across the Severn Valley vista.

Famous for its world-renowned racecourse and regency architecture up-market Cheltenham (the most complete Regency town in Britain) makes a stylish and elegant place for a wedding.  A fantastic Cheltenham wedding venue is Manor by the Lake.  A Victorian manor house in seven acres of glorious grounds that is absolutely bursting with character.  Another Cheltenham wedding venue is The Pittville Pump Room.  This impressive Grade I listed building in Pitville Park offers flexible space for a truly elegant and sophisticated wedding.  If high-end luxury is your thing then take a look at Ellenborough House.  This 15^th-century country estate with lavish bedrooms, a serene spa and beautiful interiors that seamlessly blend traditional with modern comfort.

The town of Stroud is unlike other towns in Gloucestershire.  Stroud has a vibrant artistic and literary scene giving it a wonderfully independent spirit and café culture that make it the perfect place for a bohemian wedding.  There are some fantastic wedding venues in Stroud.  One of those venues is Stonehouse Court Hotel is a 17^th century manor house set in 6 acres of stunning grounds with views of the Stroud water canal and valley.   Just five miles out of the centre of Stroud sits Eastington Park.  This 18^th century grade II listed manor house in parkland and grounds has large and airy rooms, impressive architecture and gorgeous gardens for outdoor ceremonies. No to mention the medieval Saxon Barn; one of Gloucestershire’s most prestigious Historic Monuments and now the perfect setting to celebrate your special day.

South Gloucestershire was recently voted as the best place to live in the UK so where better to have your wedding.  The area between Bristol and Gloucester has some beautiful countryside and gorgeous wedding venues.  The De Vere Totworth Court is one such venue.  A Grade II listed Victorian House famous for its stunning orangery.  Another gem is The Old Down Estate in Tockington, which consist of two unique wedding venues: beautiful Victorian Country Manor House and rustic Barn.  Both venues are surrounded by 66 acres of landscaped gardens and parkland.  Then there’s Frampton Court Estate where you can have your wedding in either the impressive timber-framed Grade 1 listed wool barn or the beautiful house and gardens.

Sitting between Gloucester and Bristol and perched in the edge of the Cotswolds is historically rich town called Berkeley. The town has at its centre the majestic Berkeley Castle.  This awe-inspiring medieval castle has been in the Berkeley family since 1153.  It is the perfect venue for a fairy-tale castle wedding. Another great option is Thornbury Castle (once owned by Henry VIII) a luxury Tudor castle surrounded by manicured lawns and vineyards and makes the perfect wedding venue.

Winchcombe with timbered inns, the River Isbourne and the stunning countryside make the perfect place to relax and unwind.  Nestled in the middle you will find Sudeley Castle sitting in a whopping 1,200 acres of grounds with award winning gardens and dramatic ruins.
