As a recommended SS Great Britain wedding photographer, I photograph weddings at this venue regularly. Launched in 1843 as the world’s first luxury ocean liner, the SS Great Britain is a truly unique venue for wedding ceremonies and receptions. This unique wedding venue is also the first wedding venue in Bristol where couples could get married outside the Bristol register office.

Laura and Alex didn’t only have perfect weather for their wedding at SS Great Britain; they had an incredibly unique day all together. It was a spring wedding with summer weather. A dream wedding on board one of the world’s greatest historic ships, creating memories to cherish and last a lifetime.

The bride with her bridesmaids got ready at her parent’s house near Bristol. Her hair was made by Broad St. weddings, and her make-up was done by Kathryn from Powder & Paint. Abigail Westrup Bridal handled the Dress alteration while the bride’s gorgeous headpiece called Maui was handmade by Abigail Grace design. On the other hand, the groom with his groomsmen arrived at SS Great Britain in style by ferry from the city centre.

The ceremony was lovely and I especially loved the unique flowers supplied by Emma Petersson. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed the sunshine on the weather deck where the drinks reception was held. It was lovely to have a quick chat with the parents of one of my brides whose wedding I photographed a few years back, it turned out that there were the bride’s parent’s friends.

The speeches were downright hilarious! Right after the speeches, we managed to catch the last rays of the Sun and took some portraits just before the sunset. The wedding at SS Great Britain wouldn’t be completed without some evening portraits as the ship looks incredible at night. After that, it was back to the party to spend time with friends and family to celebrate the happiest day of their lives. The Jacks through Warble Entertainments serenaded the guests with good music.

“Dear Martin, thank you so much for the amazing pictures you took on our wedding day. We are so grateful to you – the day goes by in such a blur, but we have a fantastic set of pictures and memories. You captured key parts throughout the whole day and we are so pleased. We will be singing your praises to anyone and everyone. Thank you Laura & Alex”
