Kings Weston House wedding - Hollie & Jimmy

Hollie and Jimmy, a totally sweet couple, had their dream Bristol wedding at the historic Kings Weston House in the presence of their excited family and friends. The joy in the air was palpable and I was able to capture the positive vibes on camera.

As a regular Kings Weston House wedding photographer, I love to photograph at the KWH because of its beautiful décor and how spacious it is. Built many centuries ago, the Kings Weston house boasts of a plethora of 18th-century features, including magnificent ceilings, marble fireplaces, and a stunning suspended central staircase. It is elegant and characterful, yet retains the charm of a lived-in and loved family home.

On the big day, the bride and her seven bridesmaids got ready in a spacious bridal room at Kings Weston House. Hollie’s hair and Make-Up were done by the talented Emma Dawson. Her gorgeous dress was by Bride at Home. I also had a chance to capture groom with his two best men before the ceremony.

The ceremony was held in the Great Hall while the wedding breakfast took place in the stunning Vanbrugh room. After the ceremony, we all went outside where the drinks reception and group pictures took place, thanks to the lovely weather coupled with the lovely surrounding which created a romantic ambience. This provided the perfect setting for the guests to enjoy their drinks reception while I clicked away.

After the speeches and after the cake was cut, we had some time for evening pics. The guests also hung out in the Portrait gallery where the couple had set up DIY photo booth and obviously at the bar. We finished the Kings Weston wedding photography with some awesome night time shots.

Many thanks to Elizabeth weddings that did the styling, Rachel from The Rose Shed who supplied the flowers and lastly to the band, the Shuffles, who serenaded the guests with good music in the Oak room where the first dance also took place. These amazing vendors were very easy to work with and made my experience a smooth one.

Big congratulations to the amazing couple, Hollie & Jimmy, who liked my last wedding at Kings Weston House and got in touch with me to photograph theirs! I worked with them to create beautiful memories just to ensure their Kings Weston House wedding was as they have always imagined it would be.

I'm really pleased to say that their lovely wedding was also featured on The English Wedding and The Wedding Community blog.

Thank you Hollie and Jimmy for your kind words that you share on The English Wedding blog:

"We wanted someone local and liked the fact that Martin had photographed weddings at the venue before. We really liked his natural shots and the way he uses reflections. Everyone said how brilliant Martin was on the day and he made everyone feel at ease. At some points we didn’t even notice he was there! He was friendly and professional and we would highly recommend him. The beautiful photos speak for themselves!"

If you are looking for Kings Weston House wedding photographer, please get in touch. I would love to hear all about your wedding plans.

It's always fantastic to work as Dartington Hall wedding photographer. This unique medieval wedding venue in Devon has such beautiful grounds and setting. Above all, the grand Dartington Hall offers a spectacular space for the reception.  I am proud to be a recommended Dartington Hall wedding photographer by the venue, meaning I get to visit this beautiful venue quite often.

Becky & Jim were really impressed by photographs of the previous wedding that I photographed at Dartington Hall and contacted me. Discussing their plans for their wedding day, it was apparent that they are a fun couple and that there wedding will be quite unique.

The lovely couple, Becky & Jim, who got married on a beautiful and sunny day in May 2016, was blessed with some warm and sunny weather for their wedding day. The ceremony was very emotional and expressed the couple’s laid-back yet fun personality. The bride Becky and her bridesmaids looked stunning after getting dressed at her parent’s place which is not too far from the venue.

The dapper groomsmen didn’t let their side down either; they perfectly complemented the gorgeous bridesmaids. Flowers,  penguin buttonholes and table decoration were created by the very creative groom & brides' family.

Wedding photography at Dartington Hall

There were lots of interesting guests at the wedding. Some Bride’s relatives came all the way from the Falklands Islands! It is worthy of note that the bride's auntie is a professional photographer who photographed Mohammad Ali and other famous celebrities!

The bride and groom are both meteorologists and had the geographical coordinates of Dartington Hall engraved on their wedding rings instead of the date. The groom works in Switzerland, so instead of a cake, they had a unique 5kg Toblerone which I thought was very cool and something that I have never seen before.

After I had left, I created few evening portraits with the couple as the venue looks spectacular at night! It was really an emotionally charged event that had a stunning feel to it – especially later on in the evening.

If you are looking for Dartington Hall wedding photographer, please don’t hesitate to contact me to discuss your wedding photography requirements.

"Jim and I got married at Dartington Hall in May 2016 and had Martin as our photographer. He was amazing on the day and the photos are wonderful. I showed the wedding album to my Grandparents the other day and my Grandma remarked (again) how lovely Martin was. Can't get better than Grandma approval so I feelt it worth mentioning in the review!

We saw his work online and I went to meet him at a wedding fair at Dartington hall. Jim works overseas so I went along to the fair with my Mum and Grandma where Martin and his work made a great first impression on all of us. To give Jim a chance to meet Martin before the day and just as a nice thing to do, we had an engagement shoot. If you are nervous about getting your photo taken (like I am) it is a great way to get used to being photographed and you get some adorable photos. Jim and I picked one of the photos to use as a signing frame, instead of a more traditional guest book on the day.

On the day of the wedding, Martin managed to make Jim and me comfortable in front of the camera, which is a small miracle in itself. We took some time to go and be cute away from the buzz of the crowd to have some couple photos done and that was one of the highlights of the day and gave some special photos. I grew up in Devon and went to Dartington as a child and going to the places I played as a kid as a bride was magical.

For the more formal photos, Martin organised my lot without anyone feeling ORGANISED. Most importantly he took the time to get the 'feel' of the day we were after and captured it on film. The photos make Jim and I smile every time I look at them and I know we will cherish the album Martin put together for us forever.

Finding a photographer was the most important thing for Jim and me to get right once finding a venue and we feel very lucky to have had Martin capture the day for us. " - Becky and Jim

Eastington Park Wedding - Mel & Paul

Eastington Park Wedding Photography

wedding at eastington park

Mel and Paul held their Spring wedding at Eastington Park. Eastington Park wedding venue is an elegant, 18th-century manor house located in Gloucestershire and it was my second time to provide Eastington Park wedding photography.
The lovely, blushing bride and her ladies got ready in their very own bridal suite at Eastington Park. The groom and his men were getting ready at the Father of the Groom’s house just around the corner from the St Mary's church which is also known as Almondsbury Church, where the ceremony was held.

Soon I joined the bride and her girls for exchanging of the gifts for bridesmaids where laughter and tears filled the bridal suite’s air. Mel was dressed to perfection in a beautiful dress by The Bridal Room and exquisite makeup by Kathryn from Powder & Paint - no wonder Dad’s face was so priceless when he took his first look at his daughter before accompanying her to the church. Moments like this are amazing to photograph - a pricelessly proud moment for the Father of the Bride.

Wedding at Eastington Park

The soft romantic glow from the plethora of Yankee candles laced across the reception tables really lit the room with love and romance. Seeing that Mel works for Yankee candles, the ambience was just perfect. The rest of the venue was decorated with a touch of sparkle, a little bit of pink by Sorori Design Florist and their sweet floral design, and a whole lot of class.

The happy couple were guests at their friend’s wedding (Steph & David) that I photographed a few years before, so this was great to see so many familiar faces. The guests were honestly some of the most fun people to photograph.

The wedding reception was also filled with some very touching speeches and one breathtaking fireworks display courtesy of Fire Magic at the end of the big day. The dance floor was always full thanks to Bristol wedding band - The Hijackers.

A massive amount of congratulations to Mel and Paul! It was my absolute pleasure to be a part of your romantic affair - I hope that the rest of your years are filled with as much joy and love as that which was in the air on your wedding day!

If you are considering a wedding at Eastington Park (or anywhere in Gloucestershire for that matter) please don't hesitate to contact me to discuss your Eastington Park wedding photography requirements.

We absolutely love the way that Martin captured our day and caught all of the special moments. We have just received our album which we are so happy with. I would definitely recommend Martin to anyone looking for a photographer!"  - Mel & Paul

Eastington Park wedding - El & Ben

Eastington Church Wedding

eastington church wedding

Eastington Park wedding venue is an elegant, 18th-century manor house located in Gloucestershire. It was where El and Ben decided to have their reception as a part of their very special wedding day. The sun was shining and the day was beautiful as any couple would hope for on their wedding day.

El looked stunning in her vintage dress that was designed and made by Cocoa Couture and her bouquet, made with colourful flowers and greenery, was the perfect addition to her vintage attire and represented the spring day perfectly. Ben had a whopping three different outfits to wear as well, changing from his naval uniform to a Scottish kilt, and topping off the evening with a pink suit for the reception.

The ceremony took place at St. Michael and All Angels church, which was in walking distance of their  Eastington Park wedding venue. El was escorted down the aisle and to the altar by Morris dancers, and she wore bells around her ankles.

Wedding at Eastington Park

After the couple said their 'I Do's', it was time to take some photos with the happy couple and their wedding party before heading back to Eastington Park for the reception. After the dinner and the first dance of the newlyweds, the Ceilidh Band was entertaining the guests as bride and groom.

As a special treat, guests also got to hear Ben's cousin playing the saxophone throughout the evening, and it offered a great opportunity for us to get some photos of him and the happy couple. Many people took to the dance floor and happily celebrated throughout the evening and into the night with El and Ben, who smiled and laughed the whole night through.

"What a wonderful experience we had with Martin Dabek and his colleague Phil at our wedding in Eastington Park. They worked super hard on the day, both with a smile, right through to 11.30pm. We just adore the creativity of the pictures - our album arrived last week - but most of all the little slideshow Martin put together following the event has captured the real feel of the wedding day for me; it went so fast!  A truly professional and creative photographer, Martin has captured a lot of memories and given us a huge amount of pleasure in the images he has given us." - El & Ben

Relaxed Bristol Zoo wedding - Katelyn & Robert

Bristol Zoo wedding photographer

bristol zoo wedding

It's hard to tell how many times I had a privilege to work as Bristol Zoo wedding photographer in the last seven years. This particular wedding was quite unique as the couple won the Wedding of the Year competition organised by Your Bristol and Somerset Wedding magazine. Katelyn and Robert chose to have both their wedding and reception at the zoo and for a couple of animal lovers no doubt it was an excellent choice.

Katelyn walked down the aisle in a stunning white gown. The happy couple exchanged their vows in front of friends and family in a room, appropriately decorated, with the artwork of elephants, lions, and other animals.

The animal theme did not stop at the zoo. Katelyn and Robert invited guests to their wedding with animal-themed stationery. Waiting for them at their seats, family and friends found stuffed animals wearing the place cards. Guests even joined in on animal-themed games throughout the reception.

It wouldn’t have been a wedding at the zoo without the new Mr. and Mrs. taking photos surrounded by animals. The two love birds posed holding several beautiful, multi-coloured rainbow lorikeets.

Bristol Zoo wedding photography

Nothing added to the day’s intimacy quite like having the zoo all to themselves. When the Bristol Zoo closes its gates to the public at 5 pm, the guests are allowed to wander through the zoo without the crowds. This was also the perfect time to capture some incredible couple's portraits.

Rain may have dampened the mood for some couples’ weddings, but not for Katelyn and Robert. Having rain throughout the day gave the perfect excuse to capture pictures inside the seal and penguin aquarium.

Katelyn and Robert’s Bristol Zoo wedding was filled with happiness, love, and laughter. Katelyn will soon be able to star in more of my photos when I will photograph her sister’s wedding this upcoming summer.

Wedding at Coombe Lodge

coombe lodge sunset

Owing to the theme of a unique wedding at Coombe Lodge, I've decided to bring you the wedding of Carly and John.

Carly contacted me after finding me as a recommended supplier by Coombe Lodge, and I'm so thrilled she did. It's always a privilege to be a part of something so special, and with the individuality that came with this wedding - including the wedding dress by Cocoa Couture in Cheltenham and pictures by Bristol's Suspension Bridge - came a day full of treasured memories. They married in Clifton, before moving on to Coombe Lodge for the reception.

The cars came courtesy of De Gournay Wedding Cars, and the cake from Pretty Amazing Cakes. Both helped to create a one-of-a-kind feel for the day. To match Carly's beautiful dress, her hair was done by Clair Swinscoe Hair. The wedding rings were designed by Dagons Workshop in Clifton Village, and the music came by way of The Wedding Players. The flowers were provided by Lucy Anna Flowers. All these things added to the day to make it memorable, but perhaps the most memorable part of all was this:

A vintage plane made a few circles in the air, much to the surprise and enjoyment of the guests! Carly organised it as a surprise for her new husband, who was overjoyed. Their first dance was something to be remembered too; perfectly choreographed and well prepared.

A beautiful sunset framed the final moments of the day, and what a day it was! I wish Carly and John all the best in their future together.

"Martin photographed our wedding at Coombe Lodge in May 2015 and was absolutely fantastic. He arrived early and stayed with us until really late, we have a fab album, all our photos, iPhone album and he even surprised us with film clips during Church and of our first dance. Martin captured every moment for us, everything we asked for and much more! We took the option to have a photo booth in the evening and I'd highly recommend that as well - our guests thought it was great fun!"

Elmore Court wedding - Natalie & Jay

Elmore Court Wedding Photography & Cranham Church Wedding

elmore court wedding

It's been a very busy Summer for me so far! I've had many weddings to photograph and celebrate, and today I'm happy to bring you the Elmore Court wedding of Natalie and Jay.

I was familiar with Jay already; I'd been lucky enough to photograph his brother's wedding a few years back. Jay's day was special in much the same way, with a truly appreciative feel and plenty of loving family and friends around to share in the event.

Cranham Church Wedding

Natalie prepared for the day at her mother's house, with makeup by Heather Heaton Beauty. She chose her beautiful dress from The Mews of Clifton. There was an air of lovely nostalgia about, as Natalie and Jay married in Cranham church, nestled in the Cotswolds hills, in the same place as both Natalie's parents and grandparents. They then moved on to Elmore Court for the delicious food and reception. Music was provided by the Moonloungers.

The cars were of Barrington Cars, and the flowers by Wild About Flowers. As far as appearances go, this wedding was one of the prettiest - and quite unique to boot, too! Before the nuptials, Jay had been studying extinct salamanders in China for many months. Both he and Natalie wanted to include this in their special day, and so designed their cake with the help of Nom Noms Cupcakery to ensure a fabulous final piece. Not to mention the table names too!

Elmore Court Wedding

It was a stunning day, and I'm so pleased I was chosen to share in it with the lovely couple. They closed out the evening by setting lanterns into the sky. I wish them the best in their lives together! If you would like to see my previous Elmore Court wedding click here.

"We first met Martin when he photographer my brother in laws wedding. We loved his pictures, everyone looked so natural and relaxed, he has an eye for creating beautiful images.
Martin photographed our wedding at Elmore Court, he took great family pictures but then also took some beautiful photographs around the grounds of us together. I could not be any more pleased with the results, the album created is brilliant and there are some truly unique images.
Martin is great at putting you at ease and getting some lovely images without your realising he is there, he is a by calming influence and for someone who doesn't love having their picture taken, he did brilliantly. Thank you Martin!!"   Natalie & Jay

Coombe Lodge wedding

spring wedding coombe lodge-33

Nathan and Catherine decided to go for Coombe Lodge wedding. They were married recently in a beautiful ceremony at one of my favourite wedding venues.

Nestled at the foot of the Mendip Hills, within the North Somerset & Bristol area, Coombe Lodge has breathtaking views across the Chew Valley. It is in a picturesque rural location yet easily accessible by road just a few miles from Bristol Airport. As a wedding venue, Coombe Lodge promises exclusive use of the house and gardens. It's a tranquil oasis, ideal for wedding receptions and ceremonies.

Coombe Lodge extends wonderful views and backdrops for a classic affair, and Nathan and Catherine's was nothing short of beautiful.

Currently living in New York, both Nathan and Catherine are originally from the UK and chose to honour their roots by coming home to celebrate their union. Luckily for me, their wedding was not the first time I had photographed them; I also captured their "graffiti" engagement session in Bristol.

There were lovely pops of blue and bronze throughout the day, with teal dresses and unique flowers and bracelets. Catherine looked stunning in her dress from Teokath of London and her make up by Cat Parnell. The couple chose Nina Bromham to sing them through the day and into the evening.

It was a wonderful celebration, with guests flying in from all over the world. After incredible hilarious speeches, there was a beautiful sunset that afforded gorgeous evening shots of the newlyweds and their guests.

It was a truly lovely wedding day to be a part of, and I wish Nathan and Catherine all the best in their lives together.
