I love my job as a Bristol wedding photographer, as I get to work at some amazing wedding venues. This is certainly the case when I provide Barley Wood wedding photography
Barley Wood is a renovated 18th-century country house situated in the stunning North Somerset countryside with breathtaking views of the Mendip hills. It has two large function rooms and 11 acres of beautiful woodlands and gardens so is ideal for weddings. And with exclusive use, you and your guests can relax and explore this stunning venue.
Barley Wood has a rich history and was once owned by the social reformer and author Hannah More who lived there with her four sisters from 1801 to 1828, where she hosted many eminent visitors. Today, it’s not only a fantastic wedding venue but its period house, manicured gardens, ancient woodlands and unrivalled views of the Mendip Hills make it a favourite with film and TV makers and for high-end fashion shoots.
Situated in the pretty village of Wrington, Barley Wood is conveniently located just 13 miles southwest of Bristol, half a mile from the A38 and within three miles of Bristol International Airport. In addition to that the venue has plenty of parking onsite.
For wedding ceremonies, you can choose an indoor ceremony or an outdoor ceremony in their beautifully landscaped gardens. Their indoor ceremony room is bright and spacious, with large bay windows allowing views of the garden and further afield. With simple decor, you can decorate it to your taste. The ceremony room can accommodate up to 100 seated guests for a wedding ceremony and reception.

For outdoor weddings, the summer house is perfect. It enjoys vast views across the Mendip Hills, that make for amazing wedding photos. After your outdoor ceremony, you and your guests get to walk back through the beautiful gardens and up to the house.
When I capture Barley Wood wedding photography, I love whisking my couples away for a mini photoshoot around Barley Wood’s stunning gardens and ancient woods. My favourite images are the ones where I use Barley Wood’s unrivalled view of the Mendip Hills as a backdrop. It’s an awe-inspiring view that’s just perfect for wedding photography.
For larger celebrations, you can have a marquee in the garden allowing you to take your guest list up to a whopping 200. Making Barley Wood perfect for large, Asian and African weddings.
When I capture Barley Wood wedding photography, I love that they are a dog-friendly venue. So, if you can’t imagine your wedding without the canine members of your family present, then you don’t have to!
Natural Barley Wood Wedding Photography

Barley Wood underwent a restoration in 2015 and 2016 and many original features were preserved including some original wardrobes, woodwork and fireplaces. The rest of the house has been carefully restored and styled in a way that is sympathetic to its Georgian heritage.
Another thing I love about being a Barley Wood wedding photographer is the fact that all of the money raised from Barley Wood weddings supports the charitable aims and objectives of the YMCA providing opportunities for young people to learn develop and thrive. Knowing that your wedding is contributing to good work to help local people is a great way to start a married life.
