I love my job as a Devon wedding photographer, especially when I get to capture Huntsham Court Wedding Photography. This quintessentially English country house wedding venue is situated in the beautifully rolling Devon countryside. I mean, what’s not to love?
Award-winning Grade II listed Huntsham Court is a baronial country house built in a Tudor gothic style that sits on the borders of the Exmoor National Park close to Somerset. This exclusive-use wedding venue offers great flexibility for weddings large, small and everything you can imagine in between.
For wedding ceremonies, you can choose an indoor house ceremony, an outdoor ceremony or a church ceremony. Indoor ceremonies take place in the house where they offer five unique spaces licensed to say ‘I do’. The first of these is the Great Hall with its granite columns, intricate parquet carved Jacobean panelling on the walls and chandeliered ceiling. It’s a dramatic room perfect for a ceremony. It sits in the heart of the house and has a carved stone fireplace, a grand piano and sweeping views to the west.
Or you can choose the Ballroom, with its historic murals, 19th-century wallpaper, silk embroidered drapes and large landscape paintings. Its French doors to the garden bathe the room in tons of natural light. Us Huntsham Hall wedding photographers do love any additional natural light that we can play with to create even more beautiful images.
The Diamond Room is decorated with light fresh colours. It has embroidered gold drapes, a marble fireplace and an enormous antique tapestry that makes a stunning backdrop in wedding photos.
The Library is a dark-walled space with hundreds of antique leather-bound books and Pugin wallpaper. It has large windows that enjoy views across to the South of the grounds and is a wonderfully atmospheric space that is perfect for an intimate ceremony. When I return to be a Huntsham Hall wedding photographer, I always love capturing an image of the wedding dress or suit hanging from the bookshelves.
The last indoor space at Huntsham Court licensed for civil ceremonies is the Oak Balcony. This sweeping oak staircase sits under a huge 1930’s chandelier. You enjoy a Romeo and Juliet balcony ceremony with the afternoon sun streaming in through the large period windows with your guests lining the stairs.
If you would prefer an outdoor wedding ceremony at Huntsham Court, their gardens and grounds have numerous romantic spaces to get married in throughout the seasons. A popular choice is The Old Dovecote. This Victorian Dovecote provides a romantic hideaway and a wonderful processional path across the lawns. It can seat up to 130 guests on rustic benches.

Outdoor humanist ceremonies can be held anywhere on Huntsham Court’s grounds though a popular location is under the ancient chestnut trees. So, if you’re looking for a wedding ceremony that is very much at one with nature a woodland ceremony at Huntsham Court is perfect for you.
If outdoorsy boho is more your vibe, then a tipi wedding is perfect. Tucked away in the hidden garden amongst summer wildflower and spring blossom fruit trees is the tipi. It can accommodate up to 130 guests for a wedding ceremony.
If you want an outdoor wedding but still want the grandeur of the castle building then choose a West Terrace Archway wedding. Stately and grand you say your wedding vow by huge oak doors that have been swung open to take in the magnificent architecture and views.
Storytelling Huntsham Court wedding photography
Another thing I love about capturing Huntsham Court wedding photography is that the indoor spaces all flow from the Great Hall. So, wherever you hold your ceremony, you have plenty of space for your wedding to flow naturally from one room to the next, including the garden and grounds.
When it comes to food, you need to hire your caterers. Thankfully to help with this task, Huntsham Court work with a selection of recommended suppliers for you to choose from. Allowing you great flexibility when choosing and budgeting your wedding menu.
For guest accommodation, Huntsham Court offers 42 bedrooms that can sleep up to 100 guests. Many of the beds are four posters with a grand canopy and are spacious enough to also have sofas and lounge areas. Numerous bedrooms can be set up for families and some rooms even interlink to create family suites.
The Gate House Lodge is a pretty period cottage that sleeps up to 6 people. It’s the perfect place for the wedding party to get ready together and for me to get those all-important mornings of the wedding images.
Natural Huntsham Court Wedding Photography
When I capture Huntsham Court wedding photography, I love the fact that they can offer guests accommodation on-site for everybody who wants it. And for any overspill, there are plenty of hotels, boutique B&Bs, cosy inns and self-catering accommodation close by.
The wedding team at Huntsham Court help you through every step of planning your perfect wedding and is with you on the day to ensure everything runs perfectly.
