There are many reasons why I love providing Stanbrook Abbey wedding photography. This unique and spectacular venue is located in the heart of the West Midlands in Worcestershire, just a stone’s throw away from the beautiful Cotswolds, majestic Malvern Hills, and the centre of Worcester. It’s the perfect wedding venue for any wedding.
Once a former abbey, and home to Benedictine nuns, this Grade II-listed, 16th-century luxury hotel now prides itself as a stunning wedding venue. Stanbrook Abbey’s historic past lives on through original architecture: dramatic stone cloisters and gothic stained-glass windows, complemented by indulgent touches and modern luxury interiors.
The most recognisable and impressive venue space is The Great Callow Hall. This magnificent arched chapel with its amazing Pugin architecture is licensed for civil ceremonies (187 capacity) and becomes the perfect space for you to say your vows to one another. For those who prefer something more intimate, the cosy ambience of the ‘East Room‘ makes it a popular choice.
There are two different reception spaces to choose from – ‘St. Anne’s Hall‘ and ‘Garden Pavilion‘. The newly refurbished ‘St. Anne’s Hall’ presents a light and airy setting; plus there is easy access to a covered terrace and lawns. Next to it is the Garden Pavilion, which is the largest space available at Stanbrook Abbey…with a capacity of up to 400.
There are many great locations for Stanbrook Abbey wedding photography. I especially love the abbey’s long corridors that are filled with natural light. Having said that, they also look pretty impressive at night illuminated with candlelight. There are also plenty of other rooms that could be used for photographs such as the ‘Library Bar’, ‘Game Room’ or ‘Groom’s Room’.
Outside, within the 26 acres of private grounds, you’ll also discover so many beautiful areas for photographs that it makes it difficult to choose. I especially like to take a couple to Willow Lake and photograph them sitting on the swing, under the picturesque willow tree.

After the party, guests can stay in one of the 70 incredible bedrooms in the historic monastery, ranging from cosy, classic rooms to sumptuous suites. The bride and bridesmaids in the morning can choose which room they like best to get ready in.
There are also an additional five bedrooms in ‘Bride’s Manor‘, which is a Georgian-style manor house linked to the abbey via cloister. This is also a perfect place for the bride and her bridal party to prepare for the wedding day.
