You don’t care about worrying about the little things that don’t matter or ugly chair covers – you just want to have an AMAZING TIME with your friends and family. I am so lucky to provide Cotswolds wedding photography as I get work at some magnificent wedding venues. The Cotswolds has some of England’s greatest palaces, castles, country houses, ancient churches, historical houses and glorious gardens many of which make spectacular wedding venues and provide me with breath-taking backdrops when taking photographs of my clients and their wedding guests.
The Cotswolds covers a huge area and runs through five counties (mainly Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire and parts of Wiltshire, Worcestershire and Warwickshire). It’s also the largest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in England, stretching south-west from just south of Stratford-upon-Avon to just south of Bath.
Each area of course has its own identity yet all have those defining Cotswold features. Honey-coloured stone and rolling hills (otherwise known as the ‘wolds’).
The Cotswolds has vibrant towns like the beautiful spa town of Cheltenham, which along with Cirencester, Tewkesbury, Stroud and Witney are culturally rich with an arty buzz that is testimony to the creative vibe of the region. There are pretty and lively market towns like Stow-on-the-Wold, Chipping Campden and Lechlade-on-Thames. Not to mention some of the prettiest villages in England like Blockley, Lower Slaughter and Castle Coombe.
Natural Cotswolds Wedding Photography
Richly rural, The Cotswolds has ancient woodlands and wildflower meadows with 3,000 miles of footpaths and bridleways to explore. 4,000 miles of historic Cotswold stone walls divide up the landscape so it won’t surprise you to learn that the Cotswolds produces a rich harvest of local cheeses, meats and drinks that appear prominently on the menus of gastro pubs, old inns, colourful cafes, fining dining restaurants and most importantly at wedding venues!
Then there are the amazing stately homes with their famous gardens and arboretums like Dyrham Park, Blenheim Palace, Owlpen Manor and Broughton Castle to name just a few. Your wedding guests will be looking to make a weekend of it.
So if you’re looking at having a quintessentially classic and elegant English wedding then opt for the Cotswolds. The Cotswolds will provide the most stunning backdrop in your wedding photographs. This area of outstanding natural beauty has everything you could want for your wedding day. You and your wedding guests won’t want to leave!
