Sudeley Castle Wedding Photography

I love my job as a Cotswold wedding photographer, especially when I get to capture Sudeley
Castle Wedding Photography. Who doesn’t love a castle wedding Grade I listed Sudeley
Castle
is so impressive.
This Tudor castle has a rich 1,000-year history and 10 (yes, count them 10!) award-winning
gardens full of formal planting, fountains, lawns and ruins to explore. All situated in
1,200 acres of rolling Cotswold countryside. When I return to be a Sudeley Castle wedding
photographer, I love capturing romantic portrait images of my couples with the ruins and
gardens making an idyllic backdrop.

For weddings, Sudeley Castle offers a host of wedding options that range from grand and
opulent, to intimate and cosy. From elevated luxury to classic rustic charm. With spaces
both indoors and outdoors. This flexibility allows you to create a wedding to your vision
taking into account your wedding’s style, size and budget.
For those looking for a traditional ceremony, St Mary’s Chapel is ideal. Built in 1070, this
ancient chapel stands beside the castle in the heart of Sudeley’s gardens. It can accommodate
up to 130 guests.

The Library within the castle walls is licensed to host civil ceremonies. Richly decorated it is
filled with antiques, fine art, tapestry and a rare and delicate collection of books. Home to
some of Sudeley’s greatest treasures, it makes a fantastic space for a wedding ceremony. It
can accommodate up to 50 guests and comes with its grand piano so you can have
musical accompaniment in your ceremony.

If you would prefer to have an outdoor ceremony the lawns, gardens and rose-covered ruins
are all licensed for civil ceremonies. The ruins offer you a covered outdoor space giving
you the best of both worlds.
For reception spaces, Sudeley Castle offers a host of flexible and vastly different spaces. The
Queen’s Garden makes up the magnificent centrepiece of Sudeley’s gardens. Encased in
double-planted, 200-year-old hedges, it is brimming with roses and has a sparkling fountain
in the centre. It’s a quintessentially English setting perfect for an elegant drinks reception.
If you want to keep the celebrations outdoors, the wedding team at Sudeley Castle offer
several options for a marquee, allowing you to take in the splendour of Sudeley’s
gardens.

The Orangery and Castle Coach House adjoin one another to create a versatile space. The
light-filled orangery is an elegant glass structure with wrought iron work creating the perfect
blank canvas for you to dress as you wish. It has far-reaching views from its terrace right across
the Cotswold Hills. Allowing you to throw open the doors and blend the indoor and outdoor
spaces.
The Castle Coach Houe is steeped in history and offers the perfect setting for dining and
dancing. It can accommodate up to 80-100 guests seated.

For larger celebrations Tithe Barn and North Lawn are ideal. The manicured North Lawn can
accommodate marquees of all sizes. It is idyllically located between the tree-lined castle
entrance and the flower-strewn ruins of Sudeley’s Tithe Barn.
Mulberry Lawn is surrounded by castle walls and is set against the romantic backdrop of the
windowless ruins of the Royal Apartments. It’s the perfect location for an alfresco drinks
reception and marquee reception.

Another thing I love about offering Sudeley Castle wedding photography is that they can
also cater for intimate weddings, allowing great flexibility for you to have your small micro
wedding however you want. It’s great to see that you can still get all the grandeur of a castle
wedding on a smaller scale.

When it comes to food, Sudeley’s renowned Head Chef crafts each wedding menu on a
bespoke basis, using local, seasonal ingredients. Everything from canapes and casual
barbecues to more formal three-course dinners and banquets, with wine perfectly paired.
Another selling point of Sudeley Castle is that they do allow you to use your specialised
caterers which is ideal if you are having an Asian, Caribbean or Jewish wedding.
