Tortworth Court Winter Wedding

"Throughout the day Martin worked tirelessly and was always looking for different shots. He was just fantastic and words cannot describe how grateful and thankful we are that we booked him for our wedding"

Izzy and Tom got married in December at the grand Tortworth Court, which is a beautiful venue north of Bristol.

The ceremony and the reception were held at the orangery which is a perfect venue for winter weddings. During the day the light in there is just perfect and in the evening it looks really cosy inside and when you dance you could look at the sky above you!

The couple says that if you're planning your wedding, the biggest piece of advice they could give is:

Find yourself a photographer you feel comfortable with. We had heard such horror stories about pictures not turning out well! At various wedding fairs we spoke to a variety of photographers and none of them made me (Izzy) feel at ease. When we met Martin I knew he was the guy! He was perfect and made us feel so comfortable, it was a complete weight off our minds to know that had been sorted.
Give yourself enough time to plan. We had two years from our engagement to when we got married. It meant that we were able to plan through everything meticulously and we got the day we really wanted.
Don’t scrimp and save on the things that mean the most to you. For everyone it’s different, but for us we are only doing this once and we wanted it all to be perfect.

What made you choose your venue?

Well, Tortworth Court was the first hotel we had ever stayed in as a couple. When we got engaged Tom said what about Tortworth, we visited a couple of other venues but none lived up to Tortworth Court. The orangery was the perfect setting for our day! It was everything we wanted and we’re so glad we chose it!

Saxon Barn Wedding

Ema & Henry's epic Winter wedding at Saxon Barn had all that I love about weddings

"Martin was the first and only photographer we met with, after meeting with him there was no need to continue the search! We instantly felt at ease with him and LOVED the album and photographs he came along with to show his work. Martin came to our wedding venue to meet with us, a newly converted Saxon Barn in Leonard Stanley, Gloucestershire.

The fact that he fell in love with the venue as much as us confirmed to us that he was the photographer that we wanted! The photographs of our special day reflect exactly how perfect the day was and we cannot fault them. On the day Martin was the perfect balance of ensuring he got the photographs he/we wanted and leaving us and our families to enjoy the day. Would highly recommend Martin, especially for a Winter wedding as he is so clever at getting beautiful photographs in challenging light!"

Ema and Henry got married in December at the groom’s parents’ farm (Priory Farm), which is a beautiful farm in Leonard Stanley near Stroud. They had their ceremony at newly renovated Saxon barn, a stunning medieval barn next to Henry's family home. The couple chose Priory Farm and Saxon Barn, because they could totally personalise it and obviously didn't have to pay for the hire!

Bride & Groom got in touch with me in Spring and their enquiry really intrigued me. They said that there are getting married in a brand new venue and it would be the first wedding there! I really liked that idea as I love to photograph weddings at venues that I never photographed before. It was also great to know that I came recommended by Ema's friend whose wedding I photographed a few years back at Elmore Court in Gloucestershire.

The ceremony

The wedding itself was a humanist ceremony as the venue didn't have the wedding license yet. During the ceremony, they had several beautiful readings from friends and family. It was a beautiful way of involving everyone. The barn was decorated with candles and the wood burner was keeping everybody warm and cosy. To be honest with such a lovely rustic feel you don't need any decoration at all!

The reception

The reception was in a marquee in the afternoon, and they had a live band in the evening. The marquee was connected with another rustic farm building and was beautifully decorated by fairy lights. The effect was brilliant. The first dance was a romantic slow dance, and they finished off the evening with sparklers.

The funniest part of the day was the speeches, especially the part involving ducks (see below). They also prepared party poppers for every guest to reveal the sex of their expected baby after the speeches – it was the first time I’ve seen that at a wedding and it was amazing to capture it. Ema and Henry's wedding was so chilled and had a fun atmosphere. Here's their epic Saxon Barn wedding!

Winter wedding at Bridwell Park - Hannah & Mike

Bridwell Park Wedding Photographer

bridwell park wedding photographer

As a first time Bridwell Park wedding photographer, Hannah and Mike's 'I'll love you till the end' wedding was a wonderful experience for me. Being a wedding stylist herself, the bride, Hannah, did a great job in planning and executing a beautiful ceremony in the Bridwell’s Park.

The exclusive country house venue is Bridwell Park, Devon, home to lord Ivar Mountbatten. Bridwell Park is a stunning classy venue in Devon. This gorgeous Georgian house is surrounded by beautiful parkland offering a perfect location and flexible, easily accessed private facilities. Its wonderful style and ambience gives it a relaxed feel that appeals to couples.

Hannah wore a Catherine Deane dress and made her own headpiece, shawl and bouquet. Her hair and make-up were done by Billie Edge while the cake was by Daisy Molly and Me. The Black Friday was the band who serenaded us with lovely music. These are all great wedding suppliers selected by the bride based on their past work and now personal relationships. In the last two years we did lots of photo shoots together in the best wedding venues in Devon, including: Huntsham court, Rockbeare Manor and famous The Game of Thrones shoot at The Deer Park Hotel.

 Bridwell Park wedding photography

The ceremony and evening party was held in Bridwell's private Gothic chapel with about 46 close family and friends present. Drinks reception and family prepared feast was enjoyed within the main house. This was followed by excellent speeches and even better dancing. Somewhere in between all this excitement we found time for some quiet portraits, taking advantage of this very nice location.

Devon reserved some fantastic weather for Hannah and Mike’s wedding, encouraging one of those relaxed type of days that are so much fun to photograph. The wedding focused on Hannah and Mike’s love for each other, woodlands, textiles, crafts, folk music and enchanting settings and I made sure to capture all on camera. I'm pleased to say that their lovely wedding was featured on The Wedding Community and The English Wedding blog.

"Martin Dabek photographed our wedding in February 2017 at Bridwell Park, Devon. Martin was a true professional throughout and had us all at ease with having our photos taken instantly. Michael and I have never had professional photo's taken of us together and were slightly worried about the experience. Martin took away any worries we had straight away, he guided us effortlessly when needed others times he just blended in the background. Martin had fantastic ideas for capturing the perfect shots inside and out using very skilled techniques.

I can honestly say we are absolutely thrilled with our photos they are timeless, beautiful and most of all Martin captured our love and connection with feeling and romance. You can't under estimate the power of a picture. If your looking for breathtaking images capturing your true love and joy Martin is the photographer for you. Incredible service and creativity from start to finish, Thank you so much Martin you did a stunning job." - Hannah & Michael

Orchardleigh Winter Wedding

winter wedding orchardleigh

Lynne & Graham's Orchardleigh Winter wedding in Somerset was one dream come true when it comes to wedding days. Not just because of their shared love for both Winter and Christmas, but because these two really showed what their “happily ever after” was made of! A gorgeous Christmas wedding for one gorgeous couple, love was full-on in the air with all of the family and friends in attendance.

What a gorgeous sunny day for a December Orchardleigh Winter wedding, and it followed right in suit with their theme “sweet”. Nothing was left to chance when it came down to all of the sweet details! Of course, let’s not forget the cufflinks Lynne’s Father wore down the aisle embossed with Always Your Little Girl that truly melted one’s heart."Martin was a fantastic photographer for our winter wedding at Orchardleigh House in December.

He was professional and made us feel very comfortable. The quality of his photographs are brilliant and he really listened to what we wanted. I would recommend Martin Dabek to anyone who wanted photographs taken for any event. We are so luck to have found such an inspirational photographer!!!!"  -  Lynne & Graham

The day started in the bridal suite with all the ladies in their sweet dressing gowns with Hair and Makeup by Dren. Lynne’s joy lit up the room as she sparkled in one amazing white gown. There was nothing quite as sweet as the look on Graham’s face when he saw his beautiful bride walk down the aisle.

The day was full of laughter, smiles and constant sweet moments that matched Lynne and Graham’s theme most perfectly. From the exchanging of their vows to the hilarious toasts filled with personal moments of love - no moment was left untouched by the infectious joy and love this couple share with one another, as well as their friends and family.

Winter Wedding at Orchardleigh House

Lynne and Graham’s wedding truly was one day to remember. Filled with fun-loving guests who were just as sweet as the sweets placed in wine glasses. Who doesn’t love a good Flake!? Their epic reception really did capture the essence of their special day, absolutely magical and full of fire. Once the dancing got underway there was no turning back from one day of endless fun.

Orchardleigh is one of the most exquisite Somerset wedding venues I have had the privilege to shoot at. Here you can find my previous wedding portfolio from Orchardleigh. Thank you for letting me be a part of your special day! I hope the years to come are full of even more laughter, smiles, sparkles - as well as a whole lot of love.
