Devon wedding photographer

I guess you are looking for a Devon wedding photographer for your epic wedding, right? We’re going to be a great fit if you’re planning a relaxed and fun wedding day. My couples just want to have a GOOD TIME, and the last thing they want is a photographer who makes them pose all day and takes over their day. My style is relaxed and candid.

I capture all the joyful and little moments and let you get on with having a FAB DAY. Your wedding is all about enjoying yourself. You don’t care about worrying about the little things that don’t matter or ugly chair covers – you just want to have an AMAZING TIME with your friends and family. You can read about my approach which is ALL ABOUT YOU here.

There are many reasons why I love to work as a Devon wedding photographer. Think Devon and you imagine sandy beaches, fossil cliffs, medieval towns, thatched cottages, farmland, the English Riviera, grand country houses, picturesque harbour towns and moorland national parks.

Some counties only offer some of these things but Devon does have them all and there are some fantastic wedding venues in all of these places offering fantastic locally-produced food and excellent customer service. So, when it comes to planning your Devon wedding you are spoilt for choice.

Relaxed Devon wedding photographer

Think you can only get married on the beach in the Caribbean or the Mediterranean? Think again. Many Devon venues are licensed and a stone’s throw from the beach. If saying I do barefoot in the sand is for you then you can get legally married in a registry office before and then have your ceremony on the beach.

Some beaches will even allow you to pitch up a marquee nearby for your reception. Excellent wedding venues right on or close to the beach are Chiddlecombe, Ocean Kave, Tunnels Beaches and Sandy Cove.

Wedding photography on a Devon farm

Often located on working farms you get all the sights and sounds (and sometimes smells) of authentic rural Devon life. Rustic, outdoors and quintessentially British, farm weddings are popular for couples looking for a more relaxed vibe rather than overly formal or styled weddings.

They are also great for larger weddings and family-friendly weddings as there’s lots of space to spread out. Guests can stay in nearby accommodations or pitch up tents and stay on site. Great Devon farm wedding venues include Middle Coombe Farm, Eggbeer Farm, Dunwell Farm and Little Bidlake Farm.

Devon Barn wedding photography

I love shooting Devon Barn wedding photography because Devon Barn weddings offer a truly rustic outdoor feeling to weddings. Barns are versatile spaces so you can have your wedding done your way and they also offer lots of outdoor space ideal for larger and family-friendly weddings. Also, they can still be stylish.

Beautiful barns and high-end marquees can be dressed up to look every bit as stylish as a hotel but stamped with your personalities on. Fantastic Devon Barn wedding venues include Upton Barn, The Great Barn Devon, Hayne Devon, Ash Barton & Corn Barn.

Wedding photography at Dartmoor National Park

The vast moorlands of Dartmoor with its free-roaming ponies, craggy landscapes, forest, rivers, wetlands and tors have entranced people for centuries. This historically rich, wild and magical area was the inspiration behind Arthur Conan Doyle’s most famous Sherlock Holmes book ‘The Hound of the Baskervilles’. So, it’s no wonder that since 1951 it has been designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. Set against the backdrops of awe-inspiring granite tors there are some beautiful wedding venues. Those wild ponies have been known to make an appearance in the backdrop of wedding photographs. Wedding venues that are set within Dartmoor National Park include Gidleigh Park, Bovey Castle, Boringdon Hall and Lewtrenchard Manor.

Devon Country House wedding photography

There are some stunning country houses in Devon and they are highly experienced at offering an amazing wedding venue. The big draw of country houses is exclusive use and space. Along with spectacular interiors and gardens offering a wealth of beautiful and interesting backdrops for your wedding photographs.

Some offer everything in-house. Some allow you to bring in your suppliers so you can build your wedding your way. Some of the finest Devon Country houses are Langdon Court, Bridwell Park, Beaconside Country House, Shilstone House, Kingstone Estate & Rockbeare Manor near Exeter.

Devon Castle wedding photography

Castles make fantastic wedding venues. They offer a rich history, and a fairy-tale feel and have fantastic backdrops both inside and out for photography. From turrets and keeps, draw bridges, moats, thrones, great halls and pretty walled gardens. Amazing castle wedding venues in Devon include Huntsham Court, Bickleigh and Powderham in Exeter.

As a Devon wedding photographer, I always loved shooting wedding photography in castles. They are often dark spaces so make sure you hire a professional photographer who can work with flash and make the most of any natural light to create perfect images.
