Polhawn Fort Wedding Photography
Nazia & Martin’s Cornish Polhawn Fort wedding was so much fun that I didn’t want to leave!
Nazia and Martin had their second wedding celebration at the spectacular Polhawn Fort, which is an old Napoleonic fort on the Cornish coast near Plymouth and The South Devon coast. They had their ceremony at the same venue as the reception, which was brilliant. They chose Polhawn Fort because they could have the place for the whole weekend and they just love it there. Polhawn Fort is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Rame Peninsula, overlooking the sea at Whitsand Bay. I love shooting Polhawn Fort wedding photography because the grounds are amazing and the photo ops are endless.
The ceremony
The wedding itself was a humanist ceremony inside the venue as the weather made it impossible to have an outdoor ceremony. During the ceremony, they read their vows. It was so personal. Martin’s ushers did the traditional arch with a sword at the end of the ceremony which is a must at every military wedding. It was also great to see so many familiar faces from their Asian wedding at Portsmouth Guildhall the week before.
The reception
The drinks reception was out on the roof and the meal was in the marquee overlooking the sea. The first dance was a romantic slow dance, and they finished off the evening with fireworks. The most memorable part of the day was the dramatic sunset because it was so romantic and personal. Once the guests were ushered into the marquee for the wedding breakfast, the sun came out for a few minutes. It was perfect timing for a couple of photos and also they had some time for themselves afterwards.
The Day after session
Nazia and Martin met online and have been together for a few years. They got in touch with me one year before their wedding and their enquiry intrigued me. They said that they wanted to have The day-after session in the sea (also known as Trash the Dress session) in the morning after their wedding, and I liked that they were up for that, well at least the bride was :)
It was a pleasure to work alongside the following awesome wedding vendors:
Wedding Coordinator: Planning Elegance
Celebrant: Humanist Ceremonies
Flowers: Floral Creations Cornwall
Cake: Nicky Grant Cakes
Band and the guitarist: Warble Entertainment
Fireworks: Celebration Pyrotechnics
Nazia and Martin’s wedding was such a laugh and so laid back. Here’s their stunning wedding!
