There are so many reasons why I love to be a Tortworth Court wedding photographer. De Vere Tortworth Court is a historic Grade II* listed hotel in stunning surroundings – a place where a centuries-old story meets an exceptionally modern experience. This enchanting wedding venue is set against the stunning backdrop of the picturesque Gloucestershire countryside. Surrounded by a curtain of woodland and positioned next to a serene lake, you will find an enchanting Victorian manor house.
De Vere Tortworth Court is situated on the edge of the South Gloucestershire village of Tortworth, north of Bristol and just 20 minutes from Bristol Parkway station. Easy access to Junction 14 of the M5 makes it possible to reach Cheltenham, Gloucester, Bath and the southern Cotswolds all within an hour’s drive.
The estate of Tortworth has been home to many eminent Dukes, Lords, Knights and Barons over its hundreds of years of history. After changing hands several times, the manor was occupied by the Ducie family for over 350 years, before the current mansion was constructed in 1849.
Following a multi-million pound restoration, the manor house now combines 21st-century style with a wealth of original features and fittings and resembles something between a substantial country manor house and a castle – thoroughly beautiful both inside and out.
One of the principal selling features of the house is ornate and glass-panelled Orangery. This fascinating and intricate, Grade II listed in itself, space looks gorgeous in the daytime with cascades of natural light. This unique venue can accommodate ceremonies and wedding breakfasts with up to 90 guests and evening parties of 120 guests. What I like about Orangery is the fact, that his self-contained venue is flooded with natural daylight any time of the year, which makes it the perfect space for Winter weddings.
Another choice is the opulent and elegant The Westminster Suite. With floor-to-ceiling windows and views across the grounds, this impressive suite is also licensed for civil ceremonies and can cater for up to 280 guests for a wedding breakfast.

De Vere Tortworth Estate also offers a range of smaller rooms for couples planning to host a more intimate celebration. The Kipling Room, with its amazing views out across the Cotswolds, and the Stevenson Room are both perfect for such events. When the day comes to an end, The Estate has an impressive number of 201 luxury bedrooms, full of period character and available at a discounted rate for the wedding party.
To sum up, the estate’s landscaped gardens, 30 acres of private parkland and breathtaking architecture would create an enchanting backdrop for your Tortwoth Court wedding photography.
