Gilestone Farm Wedding Photography

It was my first time capturing some Gilestone Farm wedding photography and my visit to South Wales and stunning Gilestone Farm was a treat  This idyllic rural retreat stands on the banks of the River Usk at the foot of the Brecon Beacons.  Bethany and Adam couldn’t have chosen a more beautiful location for their summer tipi wedding in Wales.

On the day, I got there nice and early so I could catch up with Bethany and her bridal party to capture those all-important bridal preparation images.  The girls were staying in one of Gilestone’s gorgeous lodges.  Spacious and light, it was the perfect place to convene and get ready.  The girls were in great spirits and I got some really fun images.

Bethany looked stunning in a simple fitted dress with lace detail a low back and a gentle train at the bottom that gave her an amazing silhouette in all of my images.  It suited her slender frame and was perfect for an outdoorsy wedding.

Her hair and make-up were natural and flawless thanks to the hair stylist and make-up artist Nicola from NGJ Makeup and Hair.  Bethany suited being a bride, she looked so relaxed and beamed all day long.  Us South Wales wedding photographers do love a smiley bride! I especially loved the floral hair garland that brought her look together.

Talking of flowers, the floral arrangements at Bethany and Adam’s wedding were stunning.  Unashamedly bright colours that looked amazing.  Well done to Hilarys Floral Design for the bouquets and Wild Ginger Flower Company for the flowers in the tipi. They all looked fantastic.

Bethany’s six bridesmaids all looked elegant in navy blue dresses.  And were so easygoing and lovely to work with.

I also got the chance to catch up with Adam who was getting ready in another of Gilestone Farm’s lodges.  And I got a lovely image of his mum helping him get his orange tie just right! Adam looked very smart in a petrol-blue suit and brown brogue shoes.

Annoyingly, it rained as Bethany and Adam made their way to the tipi for the ceremony.  Not that it did anything to dampen their spirits, and the image of the two of them under the umbrella looking at one another excited to be getting married was just gorgeous.  Here, take a look!

The wedding ceremony took place in the tipi.  It looked amazing all dressed and ready for the day.  There were flowers, bunting and pretty fairy lights.  It looked so enchanting.  The tipi was hired from World Inspired Tents.

After a lovely ceremony, the rain had stopped, so there was a fun confetti moment outside that I captured perfectly.  Guests then enjoyed a drinks reception and I took the chance to get some great images of the wedding party.

There was limbo dancing, a coconut shy and lawn games all of which proved to be very popular and guests were entertained by a live acoustic performance by Don Stick

The wedding breakfast was served in the tipi with tables arranged in rows.  Guests enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by the talented people at Purple Carrot Catering as well as some very well-received speeches.  Afterwards, guests milled about inside and outside of the tipi.  There were fun table games and a firepit for toasting marshmallows.

With guests happily catered for, I took my chance to get some romantic portrait images of Bethany and Tom.  It was the golden hour when the sun was at its lowest creating a soft hazy light that is just perfect for romantic portrait images.  Bethany and Adam were so chilled to work with and so utterly relaxed in each other’s company that I got some really special images.  Here, take a look!

Storytelling Gilestone Farm wedding photography

I love that Bethany wasn’t precious about her dress, and got the train so dirty, that Adam just cut it off so that it wouldn’t get in her way when dancing!

Evening celebrations started with the cutting of the most delicious-looking three-tiered naked wedding cake.  Followed by a fun first dance for Bethany and Adam to accompaniment from a live band.  Not that they were on the dancefloor alone for long.  Their guests were really up for a party and I took the chance to get some really fun dancefloor images.

Before taking my leave, I wanted to get an image of Bethany and Tom in front of the tipi all lit up under the moonlit sky.  The photo I got of them was lovely and was the perfect image to tell the story of their amazing day.  Here, take a look!

A laid-back, outdoorsy, fun-filled wedding day full of love and laughter.  Summer tipi weddings are always a joy to shoot.  Congratulations to Bethany and Adam for creating such an amazing wedding for yourselves.  And thank you for allowing me to tell the story of it.  I loved it! If you are looking for natural Gilestone Farm wedding photography for your outdoor laid-back wedding please get in touch.
