Caroline & Felix’s wedding gave me my first opportunity to create some Westonbirt School wedding photography and I loved it. This stunning stately home and gardens are simply idyllic and offer endless beautiful backdrops for amazing wedding photography. It’s no wonder it’s a firm favourite with Cotswolds wedding photographers. It was the perfect location for Caroline and Felix’s summer wedding.
Westonbrit School is situated in one of the finest Victorian stately homes in England. It sits on 210 acres of beautiful gardens and landscaped parkland in the heart of the stunning Cotswolds. Can you think of anywhere more beautiful for a wedding?
Caroline is from Texas, so the wedding had a fun Texas theme and enormous wedding parties with 10 bridesmaids and 10 groomsmen. On the day, I got there early to get a few photos of the grand house all dressed and ready for the day and caught up with Caroline who was getting ready with her army of bridesmaids. The atmosphere was electric and I got some really fun images.
Caroline looked amazing in a Marchesa Bridal dress with a plunging neckline with elegant lace detail and a floaty skirt in an A-line shape. Caroline’s full veil melted into her dress giving her a floaty fairytale look. Classical and elegant, Caroline suited being a bride and her dress worked well with the grandeur of Westonbrit. Caroline bought the dress at Neiman Marcus Bridal Salon in Dallas. Her hair and make-up were immaculate and natural courtesy of make-up artist Elle Hitchens and a hairstylist from Hue Salon Hairdressing & Beauty. Caroline’s dress was complemented with a pretty bouquet of white flowers with pops of blue created by Pulteney Bridge Flowers who did all of the flowers on the day.
Caroline then descended Westonbrit’s impressive original oak staircase to greet her bridesmaids in the library for a big reveal moment. They were all thrilled and looked elegant in various shades of pastel dresses.
The bridal party then made their way to the gardens where the ceremony was being held, joined on the way by the most adorable page boy and ring bearer who performed his duties perfectly. It was raining a little, but Carolie’s army of bridesmaids had umbrellas to keep her dry.
I took my chance to catch up with Felix. He and his grooms party looked very smart in traditional morning suits. With waistcoats and ties to match the wedding colour scheme. I managed to get a couple of images of the boys as they were waiting for the ceremony to begin.
The wedding ceremony was held outside in Westonbrit’s beautiful gardens. Caroline walked through the gardens many structures and arches and down the steps on her father’s arm. Towards a lawned area where guests were seated aside an aisle.
There followed a beautiful ceremony with two readings from the wedding party. Caroline and Felix were then pronounced husband and wife, to applause from their guests. And I captured a great confetti moment as they walked back down the aisle arm in arm.

After the ceremony, I could take some group images of the wedding party in front of beautiful arches and pavilions in the gardens. Which is another reason why I love capturing wedding photography at Westonbrit School, is because it offers me so many beautiful backdrops for wedding photos.
There followed an elegant drinks reception outside where the wedding car was revealed. It was gorgeous and very petite and was a gift for the day from one of the guests, courtesy of The Little Car Company. It stole the show and contributed to some of my favourite images of the day. Here, take a look!
With guests happily catered for, I whisked Caroline and Felix outside for a mini photoshoot around Westonbrit. The image I got of them at the top of the steps outside the house kissing was just lovely. Here, take a look!
The wedding breakfast was held in Westonbrit’s magnificent Great Hall which looked amazing all dressed in a banqueting style. The Hall is 75 feet long and has a very high, ornamental ceiling and a huge marble fireplace.
Caroline and Felix were rapturously welcomed by their guests who whopped, cheered and waved napkins over their heads. The proceedings started with some very fun and heartfelt speeches. And then after a delicious wedding breakfast, Caroline’s father performed a song he’d written just for her that brought Caroline to tears. It was a really special moment in the day.
Storytelling Westonbirt School wedding photography
Evening celebrations were held under an open marquee at the groom’s parents’ place just around the corner from the Westonbirt school. And started with an impressive performance by the amazing Park Lane Big Band who accompanied Caroline and Felix for their first dance. Not that they were alone on the dancefloor for long. Their family and friends were really up for a party and it wasn’t long before the dancefloor was full and I took some really fun dancefloor images.
The sun had set and the party was in full swing, a cue for me to take my leave. Before going, I wanted one last image and whisked Caroline and Felix outside to get a romantic image of them under the strings of festoon lights in the garden. I was thrilled with the image I got, take a look!
It was the perfect image to close the story of their amazing summer wedding in the Cotswolds. Congratulations to Caroline and Felix for getting married and creating such an amazing day to remember. And thank you for allowing me to tell the story of it. I had the best time!
